30 Aug An Enjoyable Afternoon Tea At The Haven Hotel
An afternoon tea at the Haven Hotel seemed to be the only thing to get me out and enjoy the dry warm weather. Recent wet and chilly days were not motivating at all. I guess I made a right choice as I had a great afternoon. This made me easily come up with reasons below:
TEN THINGS I LIKED MOST AT THE HAVEN HOTEL
Stunning cream tea
I have been to some hotels (no names mentioned at this moment), and have been served horrible, stale and from the looks of it, out of date food. This always leaves me a bit sceptical about eating out. Thank God, my experience at the Haven Hotel was awesome. I didn’t want anything big so I simply ordered cream tea. My goodness, the freshly baked scones were served with the Dorset clotted cream and sticky jam, the perfect combination ever. To top it up, I had a pot of Dorset green tea with a selection of delicate cakes, which was extremely nice. I love eating and I could go on and on, just talking about food.
Waiters were readily available to serve. We had humorous conversations here and there. It was a warm environment and everything was pleasantly presented.
As if the food was not enough treat, it was a delight to enjoy the cream tea watching different boats sail by. As I sipped into my cup of tea, from where I was sitting inside, I could see the Old Harry Rocks (the three chalk formations located at Handfast Point, on the Isle of Purbeck). The Old Harry Rocks mark the easterly point of the well-known Jurassic Coast.
I managed to capture extensive views using some binoculars.
When you love sea watching and touring around the oceans, a pair of binoculars comes handy to assist in capturing beautiful views from a distance.
Cool Sitting Areas
I had my tea sitting inside the hotel, as it was a bit windy outside. However, on leaving, I happened to spot several beautiful places to sit around. The outside sitting area is a huge stretch facing the sea. The sound of the water was soothing to the ears. I could spend all day sitting outside, with my sunglasses on and just soaking into the sounds of the waves.
Getting to the Haven Hotel was hassle free. Driving to the hotel was straightforward. What I noticed was that it was also easily accessible using public transport. To make it more interesting, the hotel is next to the Chain Ferry that just steps away from Purbeck, over the Shell Bay chain ferry.
This is a perfect gateway to the South Coast adventures.
Plenty Parking Space
I happen to drive a big car and sometimes avoid certain places if I know that I will struggle not just getting there but struggle also parking. There were loads of free parking spaces littered all over the hotel grounds. It was an immediate relief from the minute I entered the gates. I had a good feeling about the place. The outside was just as up-to-date as the inside turned out to be. The white-colour paint made the place look very glam and spacious.
Another reason why I really like this hotel is the fact that it’s not far from where I live. The Haven is located at the tip of the Sandbanks peninsula. I don’t usually do gyms but I am actually tempted to take a membership at Haven Spa. There are many membership benefits, the main temptation being complimentary exercise classes that are available all year (do check with the hotel for exact details as this may vary with time of the year).
In-door and Out-door Pool
I also learnt that the Haven Hotel has both an indoor pool and a seasonally heated outdoor pool. I love swimming and a heated pool is a huge attraction.
This was actually funny. As I was walking to go and sit down, there in the midst, was a big tank with gigantic crabs swimming about. This was really sweet as the crabs, added character to the room.
Great place to relax.
The Haven Hotel is literally surrounded by sea and sand. Sea watching is one of my hobbies and it’s therapeutic for me. The day would just go by without even noticing as the oceans have a captivating effect on my body, mind, soul and spirit. It’s wonderful to watch the world go by just watching the seas. Even though it was time to leave, was heart was begging me to stay a little bit longer. 🙁
The Haven Hotel is now on my list of favourite places to hang out in Bournemouth. I had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to chill by the sea.
