18 Jun Father’s Day 2018, at Beaulieu Motor Museum
Spending Father’s Day at Beaulieu Motor Museum was the highlight of the week. Usually, people have ‘A Weakness’ and on confession, I’ve several e.g ‘Shoes’ ‘Clothes’, like any other normal girl. However on the contrary so are ‘Cars’. I love cars, especially very old and big cars. I was very much looking forward to Father’s Day, as the plan was to take my father to Beaulieu Motor Museum.
I made it look like it was purely a lovely father’s treat whereas deep down, it was me dying to go back there and enjoy a day-long walking about admiring different cars from all generations. That’s the main reason why I keep taking my father to motor museums or car festivals every year. All I do is hope and pray he forgets his treats every year so that he doesn’t question why we keep doing the same thing with him every year. Mind you, he’s now in his 80s, anything is possible.
Beaulieu is an award-winning family visitor attraction in the New Forest National Park. Beaulieu Motor Museum was founded in 1952. Back then the museum consisted of only five cars and a small collection of automobilia. Today, the world known museum has a collection of over 250 vehicles manufactured since the late 19th century. We loved taking photos next to this 1937 vintage red car. It looked brand new, just as young as my father looks.
Also exhibited at the museum is the World of Top Gear, with cars created by Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
Why Visit Beaulieu Motor Museum?
Throughout the year, different events take place at Beaulieu Motor Museum including hosting weddings and corporate events etc. Besides just aiming it to be an unforgettable Father’s Day, the main reason of going was because, on this particular day, it was specifically themed ‘The Biggest and Best Hot Rod and Custom Show in the South’. The Drive-In Day meant people from all over the world were welcome to come and exhibit their cool, colourful custom cars, just like the taster below (some more are in ‘My Gallery’)
Andy Saunders at Beaulieu Motor Museum
Andy is a popular legend who has appeared on TV, in magazines and newspapers too. Based in Poole/Dorset, Andy was showcasing his latest exhibition. It was really nice to see someone who lives and works around the corner from ours. His unbelievable displays left many people stunned by his ingenious extremes.
Andy unveiled his new invention to which he confessed he was still touching it up the day before the show as he wanted everything to be ‘Kustom Perfect’. He launched his brand new summer exhibition on his Art of Kustom. This car was initially a very old Peagout which he bought from France. This immaculate beauty proved that Andy is a man who’s not afraid to push his inventions to levels above any imagination.
Beaulieu Motor Museum Entertainment
Other than just car exhibition, there was also loads of live music throughout the day. This was good for my day as it kept him entertained when he was tired and need to sit down for a little bit of rest. There was loads of 60s dressing including Victorian dressing too. I had to capture these three lovely women from Hythe Area Time-travelling Steampunks (H.A.T.S.). Very beautiful frocks indeed.
There was also an all-day free train that went around the museum. This gave a spectacular view from the top of many things that were taking place at the museum.
It was really nice getting some time to hang with my mother and sis.
Like it was ‘father and daughters’
And not forgetting the great men in my life
I hope my father had a great time as I definitely had an awesome day. Beaulieu Motor Museum is a very fantastic place to tour as it carters for families too. If you have already been there before, please do share your experience below. If you have any pictures, it will be nice to share them on my social media. Love you all and just keep loving life… xx
